Diego Costa's 45th-minute goal helped clinch Atletico Madrid's advancement to the semifinals of the Copa del Rey after a 1-1 tie with Real Betis Thursday.

Costa's score upped the aggregate lead to three goals as Atletico qualified for a date with Sevilla. A penalty kick by Real Betis' Jorge Molina tied the score, 1-1, in the 90th minute. Molina entered the match after halftime, along with Molins, as Beñat and Joel Campbell were substituted.

Betis' best chance to take the lead came in the 35th minute, when Salva Selvilla went down after an Arda Turan challenge, but no penalty was called. Costa then capitalized on a mixup between Betis defender Amaya and goalkeeper Casto to score just before the halftime whistle.
