Uruguay scored an early goal and held off Ecuador for a 1-0 victory Sunday, securing a berth in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. 

AS Roma forward Nicolas Lopez finished with a left-footer from the edge of the goal area in the sixth minute, his sixth goal of the tournament.

Uruguay (3-2-0, 9 points) was among the first three to advance from the U-20 South American World Cup qualifiers in Argentina.

Ecuador (0-5-0) finished in last place. The top four South American teams go on to the finals June 20-July 13 in Turkey.
