AS Roma took a 2-1 win over Inter in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semfinals Wednesday.

Alessandro Florenzi (13th minute) and former Inter forward Mattia Destro (33rd) gave Roma a two-goal lead, both heading in crosses from Ivan Rodrigo Piris. Then, Rodrigo Palacio (41st) cut the deficit.

But Roma held on in the teams' second meeting in three days (they played to a 1-1 tie in a Serie A match Sunday). The return leg is set for April 17 in Milan.

In the early-going, Inter's Freddy Guarin hit the outside of the post. Roma countered and Erik Lamela's shot was cleared off the line by Andrea Ranocchia. Then, a Guarin shot was knocked off the post by Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

Ricardo Alvarez entered for Inter in the 76th minute and missed wide with a chance to tie.
