Getafe defeated Deportivo La Coruña 3-1 in a match in which it began losing 0-1 with one less man only ten minutes into the game.

Both teams had the necessity to win and add three points to their count. Getafe came from an intense losing streak, while Deportivo, in last place, has the primary objective of staying in the Spanish First Division

The game became heated from very early on when Getafe's Miguel Angel Moya (10') commited a foul on Depor striker, Riki, inside the area that resulted in a penalty kick in favor of the visitors and a red card for the home defender, leaving the local team with ten men. Pizzi (12') took the shot and converted the 1-0 in favor of Deportivo.

The next couple of minutes saw Deportivo take advantage of its numeric superiority and command of the ball. It had several advances that could not end in a larger score difference. But less than fifteen minutes after the first goal, Depor's Evaldo committed a foul on Getafe's Abdel Barrada, yielding a penalty kick, this time in favor of the locals. Diego Castro (24') gave Getafe the equalizer before the end of the first half.

The second half Deportivo seemed better and on its way to finding the victory. Not only did the one man advantage help the visitors retain the ball yielding in almost 70% possession at that point, but substitutions resulted well for a more aggressive Deportivo.

The turn for the better would come for Getafe after the ejection of Deportivo's Abel Aguilar (70') after receiving a second yellow card. This leveled off the playing field, and then, Alvaro Vazquez (81') who had come in to replace Borja, would score the 2-1 in favor of the locals in a great play assisted by Abdel Barrada.

Two minutes later, Adrian Colunga (83') would define the game with the final 3-1.

Luis Garcia Plazas won a game that started with great difficulty for his squad, and broke the seven game losing streak that it came from. Deportivo stays in the last place of the table.
