Espanyol defeated Levante 3-2 in a very exciting match today at Cornella El-Prat. With this triumph, the team managed by Javier Aguirre adds its fifth consecutive win at home and moves further away from relegation zone.

The game started with Levante, who came from three consecutive losses, comfortably defending without generating real offensive possibilities.

Espanyol pushed forward offensively but couldn't score. As a matter of fact, the local's first goal came courtesy of Levante's Vicente Iborra (41'), who in a confusing free kick, hit the ball into his own goal. That concluded the first half, with a Levante visible upset by their mistake.

The first second of the second half saw a radical attitude change from the visiting squad. They warned Kiko Casilla with a strike in the first minute that he controlled, just seconds before Raul Garcia (47') would take advantage of a defensive mistake from Coloto and equalize the game very early on.

The next couple of minutes were difficult for the locals, but they slowly found the concentration they had during the first half and in three minutes increased the score to take a 3-1 lead. First with Christian Stuani (67') scoring after an assist from Sergio Garcia, and then that same couple switching possitions with Garcia ('69) scoring after receiving a pass from Christian Stuani.

Espanyol eased off after the third goal and Levante pushed forward until Obafemi Martins, who had not scored in over a month, put the final goal for a definitive 3-2.
