Lazio  has become the team for Juventus to beat as it has emerged as genuine Scudetto contenders and are currently on a 14-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.

Both sides came into the game missing key players as Juventus' Andrea Pirlo, Giorgio Chiellini and Sebastian Giovinco were sidelined for injury, while Miroslav Klose, Abdoullay Konko and Ederson were absent for Lazio and Andre Dias was suspended.

The first half was all about Juventus looking to take an early lead but with not much luck to its side. Lazio had less but equally valid chances to open the score, but the teams went off to the half time break with the score tied without goals. The only novelty was that Leonardo Bonnuci presented some problems and was replaced with Martin Caceres on Juventus' side.

The second half started as the first had, with Juventus on the offensive. Finally, Federico Peluso  rose above his marker to power Giaccherini 's cross past the helpless goalkeeper  Marchetti and put the game 1-0 for the home team.

Juventus kept pushing and was often close to finding the sequel goal, but Marchetti kept Lazio alive and four minutes before the end of the game, Stefano Mauri scored a miraculous equalizer, giving Lazio a visitor goal worth its weight in gold for the second leg of the quarter final. The final score was 1-1.
