Paraguay rallied with 10 men to defeat Chile, 3-1, in the opening game of the final phase of the U-20 South American World Cup qualifiers in Mendoza, Argentina.
Chile took an early lead, and had a man advantage for the final 67 minutes.
Nicolas Castillo's free kick off the inside of the left post gave Chile the lead in the ninth minute.
Gustavo Gomez was red-carded in the 23rd minute after a clash with Cuevas. Derlis Gonzalez, who plays for Benfica's B team in Portugal, tied the score on a 59th-minute counterattack. Matias Perez made it 2-1 in the 78th minute and Angel Cardozo Lucena upped the lead to two goals in the 81st minute.
Chile was the only unbeaten team in group play, winning four successive games with an 8-2 goal differential.
