Chile clinched first place in Group A of the U-20 South American World Cup qualifiers with a 3-2 win over Paraguay in Mendoza, Argentina, Tuesday night.

Chile (12 points) is the first team to secure advancement to the Hexagonal stage of the event. Second-place Colombia (6 points) defeated Bolivia, 6-0, to also secure advancement to the next round.

Paraguay took the lead as Derlis Gonzalez scored in the ninth minute, finishing a Jorge Luis Rojas pass into an empty net. But Chile retaliated as Diego Rojas Orellana tied the score with a low shot from the penalty arc in the 24th minute and Nicolas Maturana upped the lead in the 38th minute. Rodrigo Alborno tied it, 2-2, in the 54th minute.

Alejandro Contreras finished the scoring in the 91st minute as Chile improved to 4-0-0 with an 8-2 goal differential. Paraguay (3 points) has one match remaining in group play.
