Considered by many U.S. fans to be the best color commentator in soccer, beIN SPORTS’ Ray Hudson is a former professional soccer player and coach whose passion for the game is only exceeded by his entertaining and descriptive verbal gymnastics during telecasts.

Hudson brings a large and loyal following from years of calling European soccer league matches on various networks and his fans have captured his unique style on numerous websites and YouTube videos. Partnered with Phil Schoen who conducts play-by-play chores, the two are the sport’s most acclaimed announcing partners.

Hudson began his professional soccer career playing on Newcastle United of the English Premier League in 1973 at the age of 17. After 40 appearances with the club in four years at the Football League First Division, Hudson moved to the U.S. to play for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1977 to 1983. Nicknamed “Rocky,” he was a five-time NASL All-Star midfielder and led the Strikers to the Soccer Bowl in 1980.

After starting out as the color commentator for the Miami Fusion team of Major League Soccer (MLS), Hudson was named its head coach in 2000 and led the club to the best regular season record in MLS in 2001.
